About the Supertone Germanium Drive Preamp
Embark with us on this exciting sonic journey, where every note is filled with passion and dedication. The Supertone is not just a preamp, it is a living expression of our relentless pursuit of perfection and innovation.
The birth of the Supertone was driven by an intense desire to create something unique - our own 100% discreet microphone preamp op amp. We were looking for an op amp that was not only silent, but also delivered a velvety sound, full of energy at all frequencies. The good news? We did it! And not only that, we designed the Supertone to be versatile enough for microphones, instruments and line - a true milestone for our preamps.
It took countless attempts before we achieved what we consider our rare gem in terms of preamps. That is why we share with you this monumental achievement - two channels of this fantastic preamp in a single unit.
The Supertone features two gain controls, one for input and one for output - and they are actually two individual gains - which together provide an incredible capacity to reach up to 75 dB of gain for microphones.
Equipped with functions such as 48V Phantom Power, PAD (signal attenuator), Phase Reverse and a switch to enable or disable the Hi-Z function, the Supertone offers complete control over your sound.
High-quality components, including transistors and capacitors, were meticulously chosen to ensure an exceptional sound experience.
And the Greenbox audio transformers? Of course they are present in the Supertone!
The discrete operational amplifier was named CB1945, a tribute to the late father of Márcio Baggio (CEO of Greenbox), Ceir Baggio, whose initials "CB" and his birth year 1945 remain as a fond memory for eternity.
The Supertone is not just a preamp, it is an ode to sonic excellence, a fusion of technology and emotion that takes your music to new heights. Feel the intensity, hear the difference - the Supertone is here to transform your musical journey.
About the Preamp's saturation/drive:
In the input stage we added a slight saturation of germanium diodes and transistors.
This saturation can be controlled with the GERMANIUM INPUT knob. The more this gain is opened, the more saturation the signal will receive.
For the signal to be 100% clean, just do not open more than 50% of the GERMANIUM INPUT, and control the overall gain of the equipment with the OUTPUT GAIN knob, and this way the signal will have practically no saturation.
